I believe “heaven” refers to the beginning of the relationship, when all was good and it’s the thing she’s working so hard to recover. “I'll never get to heaven 'cause I don't know how” it’s what the narcissist makes the co-dependent feel, that she can’t do anything right, that she is incapable of achieving any goal, that she doesn’t know anything and she won’t be able to satisfy them, because s/he is like a bottomless pit that never gets enough and is always asking for more. S/he is the only thing she wants, nothing else matters, that’s why she gave, gives and will give anything to save the relationship. She reminds her partner that she doesn’t want anything more than them. She recommends her lover to do what s/he want while s/he can because she doesn’t know how long she’s gonna be able to take it.

She starts questioning if her partner would remember their time together in the future, as she feels they won’t be together then and s/he doesn’t seem to appreciate it.

Song MeaningThis song is about a relationship between a narcissist and a co-dependent person, when the co-depended is starting to feel that the relationship is failing and she is the only one working to save it, meanwhile the narcissist do whatever and doesn’t care. Overall, the song is a tug of war between her love/lover and her willingness to survive her disappointment. She is reaffirming that she isn't someone that can just be discarded or toy'd with I think it's also that her lover may need to recognize how much she's depended on her. She's lost and confused about what her partner thinks and feels, but yet hopeful - "we can turn this around". She also reflects on wanting to know more about her lover and her expectations what are the mappings of her mind are. "lets raise a glass or two" - celebrating life / distracting herself while feeling heartbroken "ill never get to heaven cause i dont know how" - even though she did right by her lover, it didn't work. She's trying to shine light to her lover on wisdom regarding what it takes to invest into a relationship and if that investment is not recognized, how that is an indication of how her sacrifices and work is lost on" the person she loves. My InterpretationThe singer is reflecting on a relationship that is failing or challenged. Let's take a drink of heaven this can turn around Sell me that you love me more than hate me, all the time Hold me like you never lost your patience Understand the toil of expectations in your mind I'll never get to heaven 'cause I don't know how So smoke 'em if you got 'em 'cause it's going down Longing for the days of no surrender years ago Will you remember all the danger we came from?
